Mayor Yap bags the National and Regional CSC PAGASA award
It was a proud moment for Tagbilaran City as Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap, together with First Lady Jane Yap received the CSC PAGASA award from His Excellency, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Civil Service Commission (CSC) Chair Alicia Dela Rosa-Bala in the Rizal Ceremonial Hall in Malacañang Palace. Mayor Yap is the only elected official who won in this year’s search for outstanding government workers and was also the lone winner from the Central Visayas. The CSC PAGASA award is given to government workers based on their outstanding performance, the sustainability of their contribution, its impact, reliability, and effectiveness. Out of the 17 semi-finalists from all over the Philippines, six were declared as grand winners. The four individual winners are Senior Scientist Research Specialist of the Philippine Carabao Center Dr. Wilma Del Rosario from Nueva Ecija, Agriculturist II Rico Galinato from the Provincial Government of Dinagat Islands, Associate Professor II Lovella Velasco from the Nueva Vizcaya State University, and City Mayor John Geesnell Yap II from Tagbilaran City, Bohol. While the group winners under the CSC PAGASA award were the Tagumpay Agrivolving Fund of the City Government of Tagum, Davao Del Norte, Tagum’s Integrated Management and Sustainable Environmental Approach to Coastal and Underwater Resources, and VSU Cocotech GenMovers.
Mayor Yap also graced the 119th anniversary celebration of the CSC in Region 7 was the conferment of awards to outstanding public servants in Region 7 also unfolded. Leading the pack under the CSC PAGASA award Regional Winner is City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap, while the Regional Winner for the Dangal ng Bayan was Mayor Pryde Henry Teves. Both advanced to the National Level, but it was only Mayor Yap who was finally declared as national winner. CSC Region 7 Director Beth Mateo and Atty. Gina Crucio handed the award to Mayor Yap along with City Human Resources Officer Cathelyn Torremocha.
