Mayor Yap launches Mobile Kitchen
To further boost the campaign of the City Government in alleviating the difficulties faced during this pandemic, City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap launched the Mobile Kitchen. This food truck will visit all the Urban Poor Associations in Tagbilaran City to provide nutritious food packs. Three (3) meal sets would be given to each family. Tagbilaran City’s First Lady Jane Yap also took the opportunity to distribute face masks to the recipients. Along with the Urban Poor Coordinator Jose Curso Pamaong, General Services Officer Dr. Chris John Rener Torralba, and City Events Officer Joseph Alexis Cadelina, the food truck had its maiden visit last Wednesday and distributed food packs to 14 urban poor associations in Tagbilaran. The next round of visit will cover the remaining urban poor associations in the City.
Frequent updates are also being done by the City Government to keep the people abreast with the latest information. Just recently, Mayor Yap also used the radio to keep people posted with the City’s various initiatives against COVID-19. In the City Government’s radio program, “Magpakabana”, anchored by Feby Ingking, Mayor Yap reminded the people on the importance of the Home Quarantine Pass or HQP, “Allow me to take this opportunity also to remind people nga ang atong home quarantine pass, mao gyud na ang atong gikinahanglan para makasod ta sa establishments nato. Kay ang tumong gyud ni Governor Art Yap, isa lang gyud ka family member ang makasod gyud sa mga groceries, para dili na gyud mag-guot didto and ma maintain gyud nato ang social distancing. So i-remind nato ang atoang mga kaigsuonan nga kinahanglan gyud ug home quarantine pass para makasod sa atong mga establishments”, emphasized Mayor Yap. The City Mayor also thanked the private sector for their generous donations to Gugma Tagbilaran, a project organized by FL Jane Yap to raise funds for the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the frontliners, “I would also like to thank sa mga private sector nato nga naghatag pod sa drive ni Jane Yap para makapalit ug mga PPEs. Kay importante pod kaayo ni para sa proteksyon sa atong mga frontliners. Sa pagka-karon lisod pod kaayo maka procure sa mga PPEs, kinahanglanon gayod nato ang tabang. Nakita pod nato ang kooperasyon sa private sectors. Mag-set lang ta ug another time nga pasalamatan nato sila tanan, nga once makumpleto na gyud ni siya”, Yap said. When asked about the Social Amelioration Program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Mayor Yap said that the City Government thru the 14th Sangguniang Panlungsod already approved a supplemental amelioration program fund to extend financial assistance worth Php4,000 to qualified SAP beneficiaries who were not extended aid due to limited DSWD funding.
