Tagbilaran City gives 1 sack of rice
After distributing relief packs to the barangay, Tagbilaran City will give another set of relief assistance, and this time, a sack of rice. City Mayor John Geesnell “BABA” Yap with the support of the 14th Sangguniang Panlungsod strongly pushed for the distribution as relief assistance, “This pandemic has resulted to families being displaced in their jobs and in their businesses. We want to extend assistance in any way we can. A sack of rice would definitely go a long way in the sustenance of each family in Tagbilaran. We have been thinking of various ways to alleviate the difficulty experienced during this crisis. In fact, we have the Mobile Mercado to ensure their safety and convenience, we have established an online shopping system with the help of SK officials to reach out to those who have no means to go out like our senior citizens. By standing together, we can overcome this pandemic and move forward”, Yap said.
The smooth working relationship between the Executive and the Legislative has definitely blessed the Tagbilaranons. Mayor Yap and the 14th Sangguniang Panlungsod worked together for the Php96.9 million supplemental budget presented by City Budget Officer, Marysol Perocho. The funds will be used to augment the budget for the procurement of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other important medical supplies for the COVID-19 response. Mayor Yap is indeed thankful to the proactive synergy between the Executive and Legislative, “The 100% support we received from the 14th Sangguniang Panlungsod is giving us a valuable headway to strengthen our stance against the threat of COVID-19. Their trust in the programs which we have planned is not only a manifestation of their dedication to serve the people, but also shows their commitment to a meaningful and shared governance”, Yap said.
