Mayor Jane collaborates with the Youth Development Alliance of Tagbilaran City

Mayor Jane as the chairperson of YDATC warmly received the Education Development Center President and CEO, Dr. Liesbet Steer together with EDC VP Rebecca Stoeckle, USAID O2 Project Director Nancy Wallace, and USAID O2 Deputy Chief of Party Theresa Mokamad. Mayor Jane expressed her gratitude for the support of the Education Development Center for Tagbilaran City. Mayor Jane then also assured her utmost support for the projects and for the Out-of-school youth in Tagbilaran City.

On her first visit to Tagbilaran, Dr. Liesbet expresses her unique and inspiring experience of the YDATC meeting in the Philippines. The 28 YDATC members from different agencies and offices present at the meeting after sharing their roles and contributions received affirmation from the visitors. “What struck me is the incredible energy to collaborate. We live in a world where people are often not very friendly to each other, and this is absolutely a miracle that you are bringing together the power of each one of you. I’ve never been to a meeting where dancing is included as well. I’ll remember this when I get back to the office. I will encourage you to tell your story, you have something to offer not only to the rest of the Philippines but also to the world – that gives the opportunity for this to be replicated in other parts of the world as well. “Dr. Liesbet Steer, EDC President CEO to YDATC.

After the meeting, the EDC Officials also joined the Tagbilaran City OSY volunteers in the heat pressing of plastics as materials for upcycled fashion bags at the City Livelihood and Community Development Unit Souvenir Manufacturing Facility in Brgy. Tiptip, Tagbilaran. The activity was headed by the CLCDU head Adelfa Salutan and the SK Chairperson of Brgy. Tiptip Nina Sulague for bringing the youth into the facility. The EDC officials affirmed the livelihood project and for opening this income opportunity for the vulnerable OSY at the same time to raise awareness and inspire action on environmental issues.
